## **1. Introducing MiCT**
Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) is a non-profit organisation delivering expert media services in complex and challenging contexts with passion, precision and agility. Through our collaborative work with our partners, we foster transparent, inclusive and fair dialogue supporting resilient societies that thrive.
Across three continents and 15 countries, MiCT facilitates the training of journalists and media producers, programme and content development, radio and film production, magazine and book publishing, media research and monitoring, in addition to supporting the financial viability of our partners.
## **2. The Program**
The MiCT Fellowship for Critical Voices provides essential support for at-risk journalists and media makers from crisis and conflict regions, enabling them to continue their vital work. The programme’s holistic and immediate protection efforts include the areas of security, livelihood, (mental) health, integration and legalisation, resettlement, and professional development. Fellows also have access to a global community of media professionals who share common values, serving as a network of solidarity and support. To date, the programme has benefitted over 1,000 journalists and media makers from over 20 countries, including Afghanistan, Libya, Myanmar, Ukraine, Sudan and other global emergency situations.
## **3. Description of the role**
MiCT seeks an experienced English instructor to design and conduct two distinct ‘English for Journalists’ online courses (one beginner and another intermediate level) aimed at enhancing linguistic proficiency in journalism contexts. This program is tailored to equip participants with the essential language skills required for clear and impactful communication in journalistic fields, focusing on developing both general and professional English skills needed for their daily work.
The objective of this course is to strengthen Fellows’ ability to write, edit, and analyze news content effectively in English. Emphasis will be on improving grammar and vocabulary, understanding media jargon, structuring news articles, conducting interviews, and fostering verbal and written fluency.
The courses should be implemented following these aspects:
- The teacher will deliver a total of 64 hours of classes between April to June 2026.
- Sessions to be taught via online platform (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) for a group of 10-15 students.
- The teacher is expected to:
1. Monitor students’ progress and guide them towards their goals.
2. Give homework/tasks to the students on a weekly basis, review and offer constructive feedback accordingly.
3. Interact on MICT’s online space dedicated to the English course (online internal platform). This includes but is not limited to sharing homework or tasks, posting interesting reads, encouraging discussion and participation among students, interacting with students’ content, etc.
## **4. Application Requirements**
Successful applicants should be able to provide proof of the following:
- Relevant experience in teaching English to journalists (preferably in a virtual class environment).
- Native-level English language skills (C2+). Knowledge of additional project languages is an asset.
- Proven experience working on international training and teaching contexts.
- Excellent communication skills, well-organized with good time management skills.
- Interest and understanding of issues surrounding Exile and Crisis Journalism and Media Freedom are an advantage.
