STOOS frequently deploys **field research teams and country-based coordinators** to support large-scale studies, surveys, programme evaluations, and monitoring assignments.
To support upcoming research and evaluation activities in **Central Asia**, STOOS Consulting is seeking to engage a **Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Field Manager based in Uzbekistan** to coordinate and supervise field data collection and ensure the quality and integrity of research activities.
**Position Overview**
The **Field Manager** will play a critical role in the **coordination, supervision, and quality assurance of field research and evaluation activities** implemented by STOOS in Uzbekistan. The role will focus on ensuring **efficient field operations, high-quality data collection, and strong coordination with local stakeholders and enumerator teams**.
Working closely with the STOOS central research team and project leads, the Field Manager will ensure that **data collection activities are implemented according to agreed methodologies, ethical standards, and operational timelines**.
**Key Responsibilities**
The Field Manager will be responsible for supporting the effective implementation of field activities through the following responsibilities:
- Leading the **planning and coordination of field data collection activities**, including scheduling, logistics, and enumerator deployment.
- Supervising **enumerators and field researchers**, ensuring that surveys, interviews, and other research activities are conducted according to approved methodologies and protocols.
- Ensuring **data quality and integrity** through field monitoring, spot checks, and verification of completed surveys and data collection tools.
- Supporting the **training and orientation of enumerators** on research tools, ethical considerations, safeguarding principles, and data collection procedures.
- Coordinating **community entry and stakeholder engagement** with local authorities, civil society organizations, and community leaders to facilitate safe and effective fieldwork.
- Identifying and resolving **operational challenges during field implementation**, including logistical constraints or access issues.
- Providing **regular updates and reports** to the STOOS central team regarding field progress, challenges, and contextual insights.
- Supporting the documentation of **field observations and contextual findings** that may inform analysis and reporting.
**Required Qualifications**
Candidates interested in this role should demonstrate the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in **Social Sciences, Development Studies, Economics, Public Policy, Statistics, Public Health, or a related field**.
- Minimum **5 years of professional experience** in **research coordination, monitoring and evaluation, or field data collection management**.
- Demonstrated experience managing **enumerator teams and supervising field research activities**.
- Strong understanding of **local governance structures and community engagement mechanisms in Uzbekistan**.
- Experience working with **international NGOs, research organizations, or development programmes** is highly desirable.
- Fluency in **Uzbek and/or Russian**, with **working knowledge of English** preferred.
- Strong **organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills**, particularly in field-based operational contexts.
**Engagement Modality**
This position will be engaged on a **consultancy basis**, with assignments implemented depending on STOOS project needs and research activities in Uzbekistan. The Field Manager will work **closely with STOOS project managers and research leads**, supporting the coordination of field operations and ensuring that data collection activities meet **high technical and ethical standards**.
