For the needs of its operations, WWF CAR is looking for a Primate Habituation Technical Advisor

**Location: Bayanga, CAR**

**Contract type: fixed term (2 years renewable)**

**Mission:**

Under the supervision of the Head of Monitoring, Research, Primate Habituation APDS of the WWF Dzanga-Sangha Protected Area Director, ensure that primate habituation and research activities are managed according to the highest international standards. Promote and coordinate research and biomonitoring activities at the DSPA..

**Main functions and responsibilities:**

- Oversee all aspects of the PHP, focusing primarily on the lowland gorilla and agile mangabey, as well as the development of associated tourism, to ensure the sustainability of the programme and increase revenue for the DSPA and local communities;
- Ensure that the habituation process is conducted using a non-invasive methodology that minimises risks (stress, disease, injury, behavioural change) to primates.
- Ensure that the risks of injury and disease transmission to visitors, staff and volunteers are minimised;
- Ensure that the PSP complies with Il-JCN guidelines for good practice;
- Supervise all staff associated with the PHP and participate in staff evaluation, training and programme evaluation;
- In collaboration with the Director, ensure that PHP activities are communicated in a timely manner to donors;
- Assist with PHP data collection and ensure that various data are properly organised, stored, backed up, archived and disseminated as needed.
- Ensure the preparation and dissemination of information relating to the PHP to contribute to WWF's communication strategy for Central Africa;
- Provide training for trackers and guides with regard to tourist visits; - Ensure the maintenance of PHP camps (Bai Hokou and Mogambe);

**What you need:**

**Required Qualifications**:

- A minimum of 3 years' experience in applied ecological research, particularly in primate habituation and biomonitoring in a tropical forest environment;
- Professional experience and/or exposure to forestry, agroforestry and ‘One Health’ projects.
- In-depth knowledge of data collection tools (e.g. SMART, CyberTracker) and data processing tools (e.g. MS Office, R-studio, Python, ArcGIS, etc.);
- Fluency in French and English;
- Knowledge of Sango is an asset;
- In-depth and broad knowledge of conservation and development issues;
- Ability to live and work in a remote location.
