## About Clear Solutions

Clear Solutions reduces the tragically-high number of children dying from diarrhoea (>400,000 under-5 year olds globally per year), working with NGO and governmental partners to improve usage of highly cost-effective treatments. Oral Rehydration Solution and Zinc (ORSZ) could prevent >90% of deaths if all diarrhoea cases were treated. We provide free ORSZ and guidance on its benefits and usage to caregivers of young children via community health workers, clinic staff and at other interactions with the health system.

Clear Solutions is a small organisation with a BIG mission. In our first 2 years, we reached an estimated 95,000 children, and plan to reach over one million in 2027. We provide the trust, opportunity and support for you to have a huge social impact, and grow professionally as a key contributor to the organisation’s culture and future. We are a small and dynamic virtual team spanning locations in Europe and Nigeria.

## About this role

### How this role has social impact

As the scale and complexity of Clear Solutions programs grows rapidly, rigorous data analysis and epidemiological modeling are critical to maximizing our impact. The Research & Impact Evaluation Lead will lead the design and delivery of statistical evaluations, translating programmatic data into actionable, life-saving insights that directly optimise interventions for millions of children.

This is a rare opportunity to bridge the gap between epidemiological theory and immediate, real-world action - turning research design and data analysis into lives saved at scale.

### Role responsibilities

We are a fast-moving, high-impact organisation where your expertise will directly and rapidly influence strategic decisions. Your primary focus areas will include:

- **End-to-end Evaluations & Research:** Own the whole research process, from identifying research questions, selecting methods, implementing/configuring data collection tools, monitoring data collection, performing data analysis, and identifying actionable insights. We use community surveys extensively, including designing and digitising logic in SurveyCTO, and defining practical operational parameters for field implementation.
- **Data Quality & Operations Monitoring:** Design and implement tools to actively monitor data collection quality. You will build automated checks (eg. GPS-based flagging or detection of spurious data patterns) and troubleshoot tooling issues to ensure data collection partners maintain high standards.
- **Quantitative Analysis & Data Management:** Clean, manage, and analyse primary data using R or Python. You will develop and execute statistical plans - from multi-stage cluster sampling and power calculations to multi-variable regression and Difference-in-Differences analysis - to extract reliable, causal insights from our field surveys.
- **Strategic Integration:** Ensure that monitoring & evaluation (M&E) investments directly inform Clear Solutions' overarching program strategy, providing the inputs needed for our cost-effectiveness and impact forecasting models.
- **Technical Translation:** Author internal and external reports that translate complex epidemiological data into clear, actionable programmatic insights for non-technical stakeholders.
- **Partner Monitoring and Evaluation Integration:** Work closely with layering partners (NGOs, frontline healthcare clinics) to assess their existing M&E methods. You will identify practical extensions to their systems that meet our high standards without reinventing the wheel or disregarding their operational constraints.

### Other details

**Position type**: Contractor, 18 months initial term with opportunities to extend by mutual agreement.

**Location:** Remote, within 3 hours time difference of the UK. Must have full-time, reliable access to high-speed internet connectivity and be willing to travel to the UK occasionally (1-4 times per year).

**Compensation**: Competitive, determined by level of experience and location.

**Apply by** priority deadline of **5th April**, [see below](https://docs.google.com/document/d/1eJm5nSB4a5k-JpWjaFgrXO9CluEluaVX-KBmuv3vnTo/edit?tab=t.yvoeqxrwj5xo#heading=h.3dy6vkm).

## About you

You thrive at the intersection of rigorous science and agile implementation. You don’t just want to study problems; you want to build the systems that solve them. You have robust research and statistical foundations, and value the fast pace and tangible results of a mission-driven NGO. You are as comfortable discussing sampling bias as you are writing clean, reproducible code, always remembering that behind every data point is a child’s life that can be saved through better evidence.

Required experience or qualifications

- **Bachelor’s degree** (a Master’s degree such as an **MPH or MSc is a bonus**) or equivalent practical experience in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, Health Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- **Proficient in creation of R/Python scripts** for end-to-end data analysis. You must be capable of independently cleaning messy data and applying statistical models.
- **Quantitative research methodologies** (theoretical & applied): You can confidently design household-level sampling strategy, calculate power, and apply causal inference and regression models to evaluate program impact.
- **2+ years of professional or academic experience** in M&E, quantitative research, or impact evaluation, ideally in public health, health economics, and/or international development.
- **Strong English communication skills**, with a proven ability to translate complex statistical findings into clear, succinct recommendations for non-technical stakeholders.

Bonus experience or qualifications

- Expertise in designing, defining & using instruments for tools such as SurveyCTO, ODK or Kobo Toolbox.
- Professional or postgraduate experience in global development, public health, or social impact domains.
- Familiarity with GIS tooling such as QGIS or ArcGIS.
